The Haircut Shop
Finding a good, affordable haircut shop in Southern California can be challenging, especially with prices increasing everywhere. After my grandfather — who cut my hair for free — passed away, I had to find someone who could continue giving me quality haircuts at a reasonable price. Thankfully, before he died, my grandfather discovered the shop that I now visit regularly.
I appreciate this haircut shop for three reasons: its affordable cost, its friendly people, and its welcoming environment.
According to recent pricing data, the average cost of a men’s haircut ranges between $40 and $80 across the country. In contrast, the shop I go to charges only $12, and eyebrow trimming is included at no extra cost. Financial gratitude is welcome, but never pressured. With prices like that, I continue returning to the shop located at:
23555 Golden Springs Dr, Suite B
Diamond Bar, CA 91765
In terms of availability, this haircut shop is not a 24-hour business. Their regular hours are 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. However, depending on their needs, they may close 15–30 minutes early. My advice for new customers is simple: arrive at least one hour before closing or call ahead to confirm their schedule. Because they operate with limited staff compared to larger salons, calling first is always a smart choice.
Unlike other barbershops that may have two to four stylists working at a time, this shop typically has one stylist on duty. Stella — my usual haircutter — and her mother rotate during the week, each providing haircuts to customers. I’ve received haircuts from both stylists, and I truly appreciate their work. Stella’s mother often asks customers if they want their eyebrows trimmed. I usually decline, and my grandfather used to do the same, but he always appreciated the offer.
One thing my grandfather enjoyed most was having someone to talk to. He loved conversation, and this shop is exactly that kind of place. It’s a family-friendly business where the stylists greet you warmly, ask about your day, and even remember personal details, like asking how my grandfather was doing before he passed. Sometimes the stylists share advice about hair products or vitamins. Other times, they chat about family events or fun vacation spots. It feels less like a business and more like a community space.
The shop itself is modest and cozy. There are two main haircutting chairs, two couches for customers, and extra chairs available on busier days. Soft music usually plays in the background, creating a relaxing atmosphere. I’ve never asked whether they take music requests, but what they play has never bothered me.
Overall, I’m very satisfied with this haircut shop. The price is fair, the location is convenient for me, and the environment is friendly and welcoming. I don’t mind the shop’s limited hours or occasional wait times because the experience is worth it.
